Bill 66 Impacts to Water and Land Resources

TO THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF ONTARIO:

WHEREAS The government has introduced Bill 66 (“Restoring Ontario’s Competitiveness” Act), which rolls back hard-won protections for children, tenants, consumers, workers, and the environment;

WHEREAS The government has indicated it will remove Schedule 10 from Bill 66;

WHEREAS Bill 66 weakens water regulations that were put in place after the E. coli outbreak in Walkerton;

WHEREAS Bill 66 allows the Greenbelt to be bulldozed, undermining efforts to make communities in Ontario more sustainable, liveable, and resilient;

WHEREAS Bill 66 threatens the continued viability of agricultural communities;

WE THE UNDERSIGNED petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to ensure Schedule 10 is removed from Bill 66 and to direct the government to protect our children, tenants, consumers, workers and the safety of drinking water for all Ontarians, to protect the Greenbelt, and to prioritize the sustainability and conservation of Ontario’s waters by revoking all of Bill 66.
